About Mill House Gallery
“It’s important to me that the gallery is informal and relaxing, so that everyone feels at ease; where people with no intention to buy feel just as welcome as anybody else!”
James opened Mill House Gallery in 1998 and it has been his main exhibition space ever since. When not on location, James works from his studio within the premises, accompanied by his Springer Spaniel, Jess. Now in its 25th year, the gallery continually displays James’ newest paintings as well as his extensive range of limited edition prints.
In a beautiful location on the bank of the Leeds Liverpool canal, the gallery is set in an 18th century stone windmill and the adjoining mill building.
Over the years the gallery has expanded from two small rooms to the entire building totalling nearly 5000 square feet. There are seven large display rooms; from the windmill tower with it’s imposing stone walls, to the more modern and newly renovated ground floor, the character of the space changes and presents the pictures in a range of different settings.
There is ample parking, several nice places to eat and pleasant walks along the canal, all on the doorstep of the gallery, so do allow a few hours when you visit! See below for more information.

We commissioned Jamie to capture our dog Pepe in a lovely picture which our family were delighted with this Christmas. Jamie is personable and professional and along with David delivered a unique experience which lights up our home. Thank you Adam and Jane Haigh
Fantastic prints. Really easy to order online and arrive brilliantly well packaged in a tube with special tissue protecting the print and bubble wrap to ensure it isn’t too tightly rolled. Good communication on progress of the order as well. Tempted to fill my house with prints of animals
